Is it necessary to attach a photo to my profile? How can I attach a photo to my profile? |
|
|
|
Our statistics show that adding a photo to your profile increases the number of times your profile is viewed, by 10 times. You are likely to receive far more responses if you attach a photo. The most viewed profiles are those that have a photo. |

To attach a photograph all you need to do is follow the following steps: |

Click on the Upload Photograph button that appears on the left navigation once you log in.

What is a Desired Match? |
|
|
|
The desired match profile allows you to describe what you are looking for in your life partner. Other members can view your desired match and get a clearer idea about your preferences. If they think that their profile matches your interest, they can get in touch with you. Also, Rediff Matchmaker matches your desired match with other members' personal profiles and gives you a list of those matching profiles, which you can view in your "My Matchmaker" page. |

To create your desired match all you need to do is follow the following steps: |

You can directly fill the details for your Desired Match while you are creating your profile as a continuous

Click on Update Desired Profile button that appears on the left navigation section
Specify what qualities you are looking for in a partner by filling out the form.
Click the 'Submit' button at the end of the form. Your desired match will now be displayed along with your personal profile to all Rediff Matchmaker members. You can edit your desired match any time you want by following the same procedure as above. |

Are there any specific DOs and DON'Ts while creating a profile on Rediff Matchmaker? |
|
Do not display your contact details while creating a profile. Do not make commercial use of it and do not include content that is vulgar, pornographic or racist. See our Terms of use for more details of what type of content is prohibited on Rediff Matchmaker |

Do provide as many details as possible while creating your profile. Be sure to fill in the details of the Desired Match and also to upload a photograph. The more information you add the more your chances of finding a partner. |

All profiles and photographs are subjected to an audit to check conformity to our profile creation guidelines. New profiles or updated profiles will be subjected to this checking. Profile approval takes anywhere between 24 - 48 hours and you will receive an email on approval of the profile. |

Are there any specific DOs and DON'Ts while specifying a Display Name during signup? |
|
Choose a Display Name that suits your profile and personality. Your Display Name can contain only alphabets,numbers and the underscore ( _ ) character. The length of the Display Name should be between 4 and 20 letters. |
|
|
|
Your Profile ID should not contain contact information like e-mail address, telephone numbers, website addresses,fax numbers, etc. This is against the Terms of Use, the Display Name is unique to a profile and cannot be changed later. |
|
|
|
It is advisable not to provide the first part of the email id ( like sahu_harish of sahu_harish@rediffmail.com ) as the Display Name. This enhances the chances of receiving unsolicited mails. |
|
|
|
While signing up I got an error message which asks me to choose another Display Name. Why? |
|
This is because the Display Name you choose has already been chosen by another member of Rediff Matchmaker.
You must choose a Display Name that has not yet been registered by any other member yet. It is also possible that the Display Name you choose is in violation of our service agreement. |
|
|
|
While signing up, I got an error message that says that my e-mail address is already registered with Rediff Matchmaker and that I must specify another e-mail address. Why does this happen? |
|
Every profile posted on Rediff Matchmaker is associated with only one unique e-mail address. You may have received this error message because you or someone else has already created a profile using this e-mail address. If you think someone else is using your email address, please do send us an email from the email address that is under contention and let us know. |
|

How can I search for my partner on Rediff
Matchmaker? What are the search options available? |
|
Depending on the criteria you have in mind, you can use the various search tools to identify profiles of your interest.
The various search options available are Quick Search, Display Name Search, Smart Search and Keyword Search
and depending on the different levels of complexity of criteria, you can fine-tune your searches with one of them. |

You can select various types of search options from the Rediff
Matchmaker homepages or from the left navigation section. You need to fill in the search fields and proceed to see the result pages. |

In what order are the search results listed? |
|
The search results get updated continually. The most recent profiles , on the basis of logged on activity, are listed at the top so that you can view and get to know the most recent members of Rediff Matchmaker. |

In the search results I can see some small icons next to some of the Display Names. What do those icons mean? |
|
Rediff Matchmaker uses the following icons to denote various statuses of profiles.
Photo: indicates that a photograph accompanies the posting.
Favourites: indicates that the profile is in your Favourites list. |

What is Keyword Search ? |
|
Keyword Search is the advanced search option to find profiles based on specific details of your preference.If the most important details of the kind of person you are searching for is absent in the Smart Search, use the Keyword Search.
For example, if you are looking for 'Muslim, Mumbai, Doctor', it's better to use the Smart Search. But if you are interested in 'Muslim, Mumbai, Dentist, classical music', then the Keyword Search is the way to go. This special advanced search feature is accessible to Subscribers only. This is a two way search process to ensure better compatibility. It identifies profiles of people who match each other's definition of an ideal match.Mutual Match works on the basis of your Desired Match details. So, the more details you enter in your desired match, the better results you will get in the Mutual Match. |

How can I view profiles of members whose profiles match with my desired match? |
|
Login to Rediff Matchmaker with your User name and password
Go to My Matchmaker page where you can view all the profiles that match your desired match
This will be possible only if you have submitted the details of your Desired Match |

Why am I receiving matches from members whose profiles don't match my preferences? |
|
The most likely reason could be that the desired match that you have created is too vague or is not specific. To receive more suitable matches and contacts make your desired match more specific to your preferences. |

Can I keep track of all my activity on Rediff Matchmaker? |
|
Yes. After you login to Rediff Matchmaker you will be taken to the My Matchmaker page where you will be able to view all the profiles that matches your desired match. You can see your favourite profiles, members who contacted you and number of members you contacted. |

What is the Favourites feature? What does it do? |
|
The Favourites feature lets you save profiles that you like, so that you can view them later. To add a profile to your list of favourites, click the option Add to my Favourites in the left hand panel of each profile page. |

To view your Favourite profiles, login to Rediff Matchmaker. In the Profile Statistics click the My Matchmaker page view the My Favourites feature. You will be shown your list of favourite profiles. |

How do I sign in and sign out from Rediff Matchmaker? |
|
The Sign In and Sign Out options are found on the Rediff Matchmaker homepage or on the left navigation section.You need to sign in using your User name which is the email id with which you signed up for Rediff Matchmaker and the password you have provided. |

Why do I have to Sign in and Sign out of Rediff Matchmaker every time I visit? |
|
Signing in and Signing out every time you visit Rediff Matchmaker keeps your account and personal information secure from access by unauthorized persons. |
|
|

Also, it is advisable for you to sign in every time you use Rediff Matchmaker as that identifies you as an active member and gives preference to you in all relevant search results. This increases the chances of your being viewed by other profiles and getting contacted by prospective matches. |

Can other members of Rediff Matchmaker know when I am signed in? |
|
Yes. The Last Activity at the top of each profile page indicates when you were last signed in. It helps members to keep track of profiles that are active, and thereby get more contacts from other members. So sign in frequently to get contacted! |

I forgot my Display Name, what should I do? How can I login to Rediff Matchmaker? |
|
You can sign in to Rediff Matchmaker using your User name which is the email address. You can then visit the My Matchmaker page by clicking on the My Matchmaker button on the left navigation. The Display name will be available on the top left section of the My Matchmaker page. |

I forgot my password, what should I do? How can I login to Rediff Matchmaker? |
|
If you forgot your password then we will send it to you at your e-mail address. All you need to do is follow the following steps:
Go to the Rediff Matchmaker home page.
Get into the section for Member Sign In
Enter your User name which is the email id you have used to create your profile on Rediff Matchmaker
Under Password field, click on the the 'Forgot password?' link.
Enter your User name ( e-mail address ) there and click the 'Go' button
You will be asked the Hint Question you have provided at the time of profile creation
On correctly answering the Hint question, you will receive Password. |

4. Editing Profile Information |

I am not happy with the Display Name that I chose during registration. Can I change it now? |
|
No. Rediff Matchmaker does not allow you to change your Display Name since it is used as a unique identifier in several places within the system. Therefore we recommend that you choose your Display Name carefully. |

How can I change my profile information? |
|
To change your profile information, all you need to do is follow the following steps: |

Sign in to Rediff Matchmaker with your User name and password
Click on the Update Profile link on the left navigation section.

You can send automated emails for free to any profile you like. The Initiate Contact feature allows you to do that,within certain criteria of age and religion.
As a Subscriber of Rediff Matchmaker, you can also send personalized emails to any member of Rediff
Matchmaker or have your own private chat sessions with profiles you like. |

Can I send emails to other members free of charge? |
|
You can send automated emails for free to any profile you like. The Initiate Contact feature allows you to do that, within certain criteria of age and religion.
You can reply to any emails that you have received from other people without being a subscriber. However, to write personalised emails to any profiles of your liking, you need to be a subscriber. |

Can I send emails and receive emails from members who have a free membership? |
|
As a subscriber, you can write personalised emails to any profiles you like. They need not be a subscriber to be able to reply to your emails. |

How will a member know that I have sent a message from Rediff Matchmaker member? |

The member will receive an email from profiles@rediffmatchmaker.com at the email id that she/ he registered with on Rediff Matchmaker. The email will contain a link, which will allow the member to view your profile and reply back to you.
Also, all members can view the list of profiles who have contacted them in a summarised form in the My Matchmaker page. |

Will the person receiving my email know my email address from where I am sending/ that I registered with on Rediff Matchmaker? |

Rediff Matchmaker will send emails on your behalf without disclosing your email id. The member will receive an email from profiles@rediffmatchmaker.com at the email id that she/ he registered with on Rediff Matchmaker. The email will contain a link, which will allow the member to view your profile on Rediff Matchmaker and reply back to you. |

How will I know when I receive an email from a Rediff Matchmaker member? |
|
When you receive an email from a subscribed member of Rediff Matchmaker, you are alerted by an e-mail sent to your e-mail address registered with Rediff Matchmaker. You will receive an email from profiles@rediffmatchmaker.com containing the message from the other person. You can view the person's profile from the link on Rediff Matchmaker and reply to the message. |

Why am I not getting many messages and/or replies from other profiles? |
|
There can be many reasons why you are not receiving many responses. Our experience shows that more complete profiles with detailed description and photograph have a much higher chances of getting response from other profiles.So fill in as much information about yourself in the description area and add your photograph in line with our photo guidelines. |

If you have liked a profile and trying to contact him, it is always a good idea to check what the member is looking for in his/her Desired Match. Also, as a subscriber, fill in as much information about yourself when you send an email to anyone and be specific about the information you are looking from the other person. It encourages people to reply to your messages. |

Why am I receiving messages from members whose profiles don't match my preferences? |
|
Any member is in a position to contact you through either Initiate Contact message or emails if they like your profile, within certain set parameters. This is dependent solely on the aspect of their liking your profile. It is, however, upto you to accept or decline the matrimonial alliance proposal. We would request you to respond to all the proposals you receive, even if you have to decline the proposal. Your response, positive or negative, will be helpful in closing the loop and completing the interaction. |

If I become a Subscriber of Rediff Matchmaker, can I obtain the contact details of other members? How can I communicate with other members? |

When you become a Subscriber you become entitled to contact other profiles you like with personalised emails or private chat sessions. However, the contact details ( email id ) of either side will not be displayed by us. If you are comfortable with the person you are interacting with, you can decide to disclose your email id or contact details in your messages. |

How long does it take to activate my subscription account after I place an order? |
|
If you pay for the order using a credit card, then the account is activated within 12 hours. But if you pay using a cheque,demand draft or a bank draft then the account is activated once we have received an acceptance from your bank. This typically takes anywhere between 4 - 7 days.
If you pay by Internet Banking, we will activate your account on receiving the payment advice from your bank. Though your account may get debited immediately, the payment advice may sometimes take time to reach us. This may take around 24 hours to activate the subscription. |

I have already paid for my subscription but my account is still not active. Why? |
|
If you have sent us your payment via cheque/ demand draft it is possible that we have not received the payment yet.Your subscription account will be activated only once we receive the payment. We will notify via email you once we receive payment and activate your subscription. So please be patient. |

If you pay by Internet Banking, we will activate your account on receiving the payment advice from your bank. Though your account may get debited immediately, the payment advice may sometimes take time to reach us. This may take around 24 hours to activate the subscription. |
